Anyone own one or at least drive one?

Wondering what your impressions are. I talked to my friend who is the service mgr at the local Ford dealer and he raves about it! He actually ordered one for himself, he's giving up his Ford F-250 diesel for it.

I also hear good things, but personally have not driven one yet...

I just purchased a 2011 with a friend, we each own half. We purchased an extended warranty just in case the Ecoboost has issues down the road. I've only used it for landscaping work around the home such as picking up a yard of garden soil and hauling debris to the dump. No issues, no complaints. I'm towing my PS197 to Wisconsin on Friday for a 2 week ski-cation. That will be the first time I've towed with it. More later. I'm so happy I'm calling my broker to put in an order to buy 400 shares of Ford stock!

I have heard nothing but great things.

Torque is a close rival to the Power Stroke.

Then there was this (http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/01/what-the-inside-of-a-torture-tested-ecoboost-v-6-looks-like.html) that sold me.

Me too. Torque is no where close to the Powerchoke though. They're up to 800ft/lbs now.
Impressive for a 6 banger though.
I've never been a Ford guy.....at all. Even though I've had probably 20 F150/F250 work trucks. Most of them were good trucks, nothing really impressive though, until now. Just got a '11 F150 5.0, 6speed auto. That truck rips! I'd put it up against any other mfrs gasser right now and bet it would win. Trans finally works like it should too. Very nice truck and if it holds up, FOrd hit a home run. Even more so with the ecoboost!

Regarding the torture test, great marketing and they'l get alot of mileage out of that (no pun intended). But not terribly impressive un less most thought it was destined to fail or something. I mean 163k mi and worked hard most of it? I did that with a 1990 GMC Z71, 350 engine. (Except the Baja 1000 part, but I was a kid and I did jump that truck quite a few times!). Sold it w/ 160k mi, orig engine and drivetrain front to back. Saw it about 3 yrs later, had 220k on it. Ole boy put a gn in hte bed and had a loaded 5 horse slant load hooked to it. Said it was still all original under the hood.

I drove it several times and loved it. I ended up buying a F350 Powerstroke and love it too.

What gas mileage does the eco boost get compared to the standard v8?

They advertise 22 mpg on the eco boost.

Ford's gottent he fuel mileage thing right too I think. Not apples to apples, but my '11 F150 5.0 is getting an honest 17mpg overall mixed driving including some putting around the jobsite.
Granted this is with a 2wd truck at sea level with an empty bed, but my last 5.4 (2008 model) and every 5.4 before that only got 11-13mpg on the highway 2wd or 4wd with about 800lbs in the bed.
Any rumors on the quality of the new 6sp autos behind the ecoboost and 5.0 F 150's?
Guy at work said they bought 4 of them about 3 months ago and 3 of them have been to the shop with trans problems! Mine's doing fine but it only has 2500mi on it.

Brother is a mechanical engineering intern at Ford, he speaks very highly of this. My brother is very knowledgeable, he has a bachelor's and is working on a masters in mechanical engineering. From what he is saying, I wouldn't buy anything but a ford right now. The test that they perform on the ecoboost are insane! Even with the family discount I cannot afford one on a teacher salary. Gotta have your priorities straight: ****ty truck, nice boat.

Def. has some MoJo. I read in one of the magazines 0-60 time (tested) of 6.1. That's pretty quick for a truck!

Sounds pretty dang good so far.

Where is GM on this technology?

Thats cool. I'm a first time Ford Guy other than a 77 Ford Bronco and I love my new truck.

They are still working on getting the piston slap problem out of the 5.3L.

Does Ford have any plans of putting the ecoboost under the hood of an Expedition?

I love my truck but it's thirsty!

Expeditions are rumored to be an ecoboost candidate. the next vehicle coming with it though will be the focus with a 4 cylinder ecoboost

It's coming... But it will be a 4 cylinder. Father ford tells me so.... I am a Ford dealer.

We've had mixed reviews from our customers. For the most part, the guys that tow alot love them. Those that do not, don't care for them.

Could you elaborate? Why do those that don't tow a lot seem to not like them?

Real world fuel economy is no different than the 5.0 when equiped with the same axle ratios. Except when towing. The eco-boost is more efficient

Our customer claim that there is some turbo lag, but not as noticible when trailering heavy loads.

This engine was buils as a work horse, and that's exactly what is does best. Towing ability matches that of the bigger 6.2l now available in the f-150

Personally, I am truely amazed by the 3.5 eco-boost. And I just don't understand why people that buy trucks complain about fuel economy. I hear it every day! Buy something else if you need the mileage. My Nautique with the GT-40 was way more efficient than my PS190 with the MCX that I have now. I never have, and never will complain about it.

Very well said! I burn through a tank and my buddy with 91 prostar 190 burns 1/2 tank. I'm not complaining!
