View Full Version : '89 Prostar 190 rebuild

Hi - I'm new on the forum and I have a question: Has anyone rebuilt - and by 'rebuilt,' I mean split the top deck, taken the hull down to the stringers, pulled the engine, transmission, driveshaft and associated hardware - and done a really complete rebuild of a late 80's Prostar 190? I am thinking of doing pretty much that to my almost 900 hour '89.

Before you start - I KNOW that selling and buying a later model makes more sense. I just really love this boat and was wondering whether it is worth making her 'new' again.

There are several that come to mind... not one is exactly what you are asking for but most cover a restoration.

I know there are lots more ( ;

Never done it, BUT I did have it done by a local MC dealer on my 1980 S&S a few years ago. Thought about doing myself, but I figured it was worth the extra money to have a professional do it...

Total rebuild with stringers to give you some ideas but not the same brand.

Stringers on a 89 are fiberglass and steel and shouldn't need to be redone...
