Hey, anybody been to Powell recently?

From Wahweap, is the passage around Castle Rock open, or does everyone have to go through the narrows near Antelope Point?

Is the Stateline boat ramp open?

We're heading up in a couple of weeks; trying to plan where 6 families and 5 boats are gonna hang out.

Thanks,

/frank

Haven't been... but we're going!! Looks like we're going to be able to pull off a trip over Labor day weekend. :D

Stateline is open, according to WaynesWords, http://www.wayneswords.com/primative.htm. I don't know about the passage, though. Hopefully someone with more up-to-date info will post.

No, the Castle Rock cut is not open. The water needs to reach elevation 3620 to make it passible. The water topped out at elevation 3608 this year.

Just went to Lake Powell a little over a week and 1/2 ago. Anyway, you can't go through castle rock, it's landlocked. You will have to go through the narrows, but be very careful. The wakes bounce off of the sidewalls and create some prettty nasty water to drive through. If you're towing boats behind your houseboat, keep an eye out, there were many sinking boats throughout those narrows. It was pretty damn hot out there, 105-111, so be prepared if the heat continues. Other than that, stay in Gunsight on your first night out, we had glass all day long. Hope that helps.
