My buddy needs to remove and replace his prop, hopefully before his vacation starts on Sunday. He just called and asked I'd I had a pulled, I don't. He tried a hammer and 2x4. He said his prop is a 13x14 with an 1"1/8 shaft. Would my 14x18 work? And if we can't locate a puller, how about some other tricks for removal. We live 40 miles south of Chicago, hopefully he can locate a prop too. Thanks for the input!!!

One way to get the prop off without a puller tool is to heat the prop hub with a propane torch. When the prop gets hot enough it will actually "pop" loose and can be removed easily. But it will be hot so don't grab it. Also, leave the nut threaded just a bit so the prop doesn't fall off.

Hard to imagine that those two props would be even remotely interchangeable.

He's going to have to pay retail at a boat shop tomorrow for a puller and a prop. His prop is a right hand rotation so my prop even if it cleared his hull wouldn't work.
