Anyone out there have experience installing LED courtesy lights? I'd like to install either stand alone singles, or lightbar, or even LED rope. As long as I can connect it back to an aux switch at the cockpit. And how do I determine the power capacity for that switch circuit? I don't want to overload it.

Most are easy to install just need to figure out what you want and go from there...

I just did this in my '05 X-9. Red LED's in place of all the existing courtesy lights, as well as LED's in all the speakers, cup holders, and a couple other places. I just tied them all into the existing courtesy light circuits, and they are controlled by the existing switch for the courtesy lights. I used wakeX2wake's instruction thread below as my guide....great step-by-step! Mine turned out great.

If you are planning on putting the lights in the gunnels I found that the LED rope light gave off the most uniform light. As for sizing the switch there is nothing to really worry about as LEDs take hardly any power. If you have an open ACC switch on your dash it will hand all the LEDs you could put in your boat.

Thanks for the feedback gentelmen!

Noris, thanks for the lead to WX2W's thread. It all looks kick a$$. Do you have any pics of the RED lights? My boat is red and I thought it would be a good choice but wasn't sure if it would cast enough light/lumens.

AndyG, do you have any photos of the rope lighting installed?

I originally tried putting in a few sets of LEDs in the gunnels and hated the way the light looked so I replaced them with LED rope light. Here are a couple of pics showing what the multiple LEDs look like vs the rope light. The rope lights are the picture with the much more even light distribution.

Has anyone had any luck using remote toggle for the interior lighting?

Also, any reviews or experience with Stingerz Level 1 Boating Kit?

See Here (http://www.customdynamics.com/boating/led_boating_accent_lights.htm) for both.
