I Have Been Reading And Wondering About Different Engine Types. The Ls1 In Some Boats - How Dependable Are They? How Are The On Parts Price Wise As Compared To An Indmar? And With A Higher Horsepower Engine, Do They Work Better With A 1:1 Or A Powerslot Transmission?

East Tx Skier Where Are Ya? :)

Thanks Guys!

I have never seen an LS1 in a MasterCraft.... I have only seen Gen II 5.7s in MCs. That is what the RTP and MCX are.....

I dont think MC ever used an LS1. I could be wrong though....

I seem to recall their having used it in the late 90s/early 2000s (maybe 1999--2000). Or maybe that was the LT-R. Maybe it was Malibu that used the LS-1. I don't have a clue about how reliable they were or how expensive and available the parts are.

I do remember that malibu used it a lot..... They had good luck with it, as far as I know.

LT-1 was used in mid 90's prostars. I dont believe they used the LS-1. I have a car for sale right now if you want something with a LS-1 :D

Mine is very dependable. I love lifting the cover and seeing Corvette on the valve covers.

I'm not sure the price differance in parts or repairs is significant. Anyway, I've never noticed it being any higher than the Ford in my 93 Prostar.

Again, same deal with the Powerslot. I think either engine works great with or without the powerslot.

All things equal, I would take the Vette motor and the powerslot. Personal preferance is all. I never really noticed any differance in my non powerslot Prostar vs my buddies powerslot Prostar ( both the same year ) when I was being towed. In the boat I could tell, but again is was not a big differance.

Currently with a Vette powered 95 Maristar. ( LT1 )

The only things I recall ever being a common issue with the LT-1 was something about the thermostat. Don't remember the specifics.

LT1 has two thermostats (with two different temperatures), and aluminum heads. Don't run one in salt and don't overheat one.
