Are there really no boats on this lake??? Unbelievable. I've read about this place on TT on another thread--we just dismissed it because I believe it's about 6-7 hours away but I'm heavily reconsidering going there now. Great pics. Was it all camping or were there cabins to rent or other accommodations?

I saw maybe 10 other boats on the Friday before the fourth of July! Sunday the third I saw 100 boats....... On the Colorado side, there is very little traffic! Glass waters all day long! Lots of shore-line to camp, designated campgrounds, and possibly homes for rent. No homes directly on the lake though.

Mandatory boat inspections for Zebra Mussels. Make sure to have a dry bilge, and manually drain any ballast sacs before going. If they believe that a ballast sac might contain more than 5 gallons of water, it's an automatic quarantine. This will cost you an hour out of your day. I opted to give them my ski locker ballast sac to hold for the day. Make sure no water will pump out of your bilge or tanks!

And of course, DONT MOVE A MUSSEL, and dont tell anyone! :)

Navajo's awesome! Too far away now.
You want a little further trip, try Blue Mesa near Gunnison. Glass on holiday weekends unless it's windy! Lake is about 20-25mi long.

Also about 20-25 deg all summer long. Just drove past Jun20th. I would have gotten in, but my wife and kids would not have.

I'll keep that in mind. If I go any higher I will definitely need to re-prop. At Navajo I lost 9 mph!

Did the same thing as you Brian. Pretty sweet place! We rented an RV (I drove) and my wife pulled the boat with the suburban down to Navajo. We went down last year on Labor day and experienced the same thing.....hardly anyone. It rained a lot for us but still made it out for a few hours each day. I was amazed how "unpopulated" it was for a holiday weekend. Just incredible!

I definitely want to go again!

This was my first experience with an RV too! Interesting but fun! Glad we had the 30' one with the rain......

Great pics!

(Now, let's not talk about this anymore!!);)

Thanks! Were the mosquitoes bad?

When we pulled out last Sunday night the mosquitoes were worse than I have ever seen. People were miserable!

I don't recall actually, so it must of not been too bad. Speaking of mosquitoes, I'm heading to Alaska tomorrow to fish for a week. Now, talk about mosquitoes!! Definitely pretty dense up there!:o

Best lake ever. Used to go 5 or 6 times a year when my kids were young. I only saw it get busy on long weekends, otherwise too far from most population areas for people to drive to for two days. Haven't been back for years, but it's on my list. Lots of good times in that deep cove close to the Colorado side. Here is my daughter when she was learning to foot on the 22 miles of GLASS!!! Great memories.........
