View Full Version : Lowering the Tower - how easy

I can't find a video anywhere that shows what it takes to put the tower down on ZFT 1 (or 3 or whatever they were called a few years back) tower. Where I boat, this tower would most likely need to be lowered at least twice, if not 4 times, each time we took the boat out. Can this be done easily and by one person?

Which tower is that? Is it the one before the power tower?

It's pretty easy compared to some of the old schol towers. Undo a few bolts w/ knobs and unplug spkr and light connectors. Back half gets a little heavy w/ 4 spkrs but still ok for 1 person.
Not sure if you'd have to pull the boards out of the racks, probably. Don't drop one of the knobs in the water. I'd say 5 min total down and up once you have it figured out.

Thrall is correct. Depending on what tower you actually have, it can be pretty easy. I dont lower mine when trailering. Its a lot more stable up then folded down IMO.

If it's the newer one like mine it is easy for one person to take down. However I have had problems getting everything to line up when putting it back up and have to use two people most of the time.

i wouldn't say easy w/ one person but do able. I would much prefer 2 people. However, once you get the hang of it i'm sure you'd come up with a good technique with 1 person

if its the new style of tower its very easy with 1 person. I do it almost 2 - 4 times a day if i boat into work.

Boat docked at the back of our community at the private docks.
Boat docked at work:
I have the zero flex from 02. It takes me less than 2 minutes to undo 4 knobs and fold down by myself. I usually have a beer between the knobs and folding!
