A friends 225 VRS with the LT-1 overheated 3-4 times, pegged the temp gauge each time. Now there is water in the oil. Suspect it is at least a blown head gasket, or maybe a warped head or block.

Could not find a cause for the overheating. Impeller was good, both thermostats were working, no obstructions in the raw water intake lines, water was flowing into and out of the risers, the cooling system breather / crossover tube is at the front (higher end) of the engine.

Anyone ever had a similar problem? Ideas on what may be the cause of the overheating? At this point it will go into the shop for a damage diagnosis and repair.

If the impellor and raw water pump were working properly, something had to be blocking the water passages in order for the engine to overheat.

Did you check the transmission cooler?? For either internal leaks or blockage?

Sounds like a good chance that the heads are warped...hope not.

Yes, checked the trans cooler. Nothing there that would have blocked it.

Does it have a "strainer" in the hose that goes to the water pump? I have seen where this has gotten trash or something that clogged up the pipe.
