 Can someone please tell me if the red wire goes on the front or back connector on the choke coil? My red wire is hooked to the front but I want to make sure that this is correct since it appears that my choke is not working.

See my reply in the old forum. As long as neither terminal is grounded to the carb, it doesn't matter which the 12V wire is on. It's not directional, it just presents a load and heats up when current flows through it.

Thanks Jim. I felt like that this could be the case but when I was looking at a replacement on the skidim website it appears that the replacement has a + & a - terminal.

I will verify that I am getting 12v to the coil before replacing.

Jim, does the choke coil have power to it with the key on or does the engine actually have to be running? Also, can you turn the key on and wait for a period of time and see the choke plate move or will the engine have to be running and coming up to operating temp?

Yes, the choke wire is hot with key ON. If you want to let it close, you can turn the key on and wait. If you disconnect the distributor from the coil, it's better for the ignition system.
