I was wondering what my best option is for getting the mirror off the dash....it's fine some of the time but is quite an obstacle on a busy day. Any pictures of some good options would be appreciated...

A cipa comp mirror will clamp onto the windshield frame. I have a couple that are barely used that I might be interested in selling. PM me if you're interested.

I'm not sure what year your 190 is, but I remember having some issues mounting a clamp-on mirror to the windshield frame on my 1990 PS190. I think the frame wasn't square, but more wedge-shaped (?) where you would want to mount the mirror. I just gave up and left the mirror on the dash, which is practically worthless as I'm sure you know. I guess I could have drilled holes and mounted it with screws, but I was worried about breaking the glass.

Just a thought -- you might want to check first if you have the same vintage boat.

Clamp on worked fine on my 93. I had two mirrors with clamps. Now I only have one left.

Tide, if you want it at the price we discussed, let me know.

I found this to be true on my 96. To get the mirror on I unscrewed the clamp all the way and removed the clamp block. Then you just put the mirror on the windshield frame where you want it and slide the clamp block back in and screw it tight (you kind of have to hold your tongue right, but it will slide in). Hasn't moved since.;)

Right, I should have looked at the pic first. I guess it's not a 1990-era 190. Were those the only ones with the wedge-shaped frame?

Off subject....how you guys like my 1996 Pioneer SuperTuner Tape Deck?

Good to know. By the late 90s, they had that little u-shaped bracket that mounted to the windshield. Had one of those at one point, but sold it. It screwed into the frame and doing that makes me very nervous.

Get the 1998 mirror... it mounts up on the top of the windshield... you will most likely have to touch up the black paint on your vertical bar...

If you can find the 98 mount, that might be preferable. If not, you're welcome to buy mine.

Not sure I want to spend the effort to find the 1998 mirror....?

Both mirrors are sold.

Joe, the mirror you have coming your way is the same one as is on the 98. The bracket is just different. The one on the 98 was U-shaped and attached to a plate on the windshield with thumb screws. Yours has a clamp with a gasket on the inside and a couple of tightening points. Worked well in my old setup and hope it works well for yours.

Do I have to leave the vertical bar?
