I have a 2004 x9. How do I minimize the wake for slalom skiing?

Remove back seat and go down to a quarter tank of gas. You might try some weight in the nose as well to get her arse out of the water. If none of that works, unscrew the throttle knob, get a 197, and screw the throttle knob back on. Had a friend just employ the latter method with his 2005 209 (to a 2010th 197) and he has no regrets.

Yep those pretty much sum it up. Bought my 06 X9 knowing that it was supposed to be a good crossover boat but definitely not the best at either WB or WS. I hate making the turn and seein that big @$$ wake staring at me, so I pretty much just stay where I belong.....in the drivers seat. The WB wake is good enough for the yungins and their wake boards, which is really why we bought it anyway.

Wouldn't turn down a pull from one for sure. Had a lot of fun behind that 05. But, for skiing, I prefer the 197 to it in a MC.

Sell it, buy an old PS. I even own the nasty 1998 PS 205... but the wake is not bad, at all. 20, 30, 40 mph. She does well.

Depends too how picky you are about skiing speed. Sometimes 1 or 2 mph faster will really smooth out a wake. I wonder what effect trim tabs would have? Never heard of anyone who's installed them on that hull.
As has already been said though, the X9/209 wake will never equal a 190, 195, 197 or 205.

Nothing nasty about a 98 205 IMO. Nice little old school low and firm wake.

I'd get a glass guy to put a hook on there if it doesn't have one. Can't remember when the 209 got the hook. Either 2004 or 2005. Probably helps a bit. But in the end, if you want a ski boat, get a ski boat; if you want a wake boat, get a wake boat. If you want both, buy two boats.

Or get a mid to late 90s 205. ;)
