View Full Version : Wake on an X-30

So I'm kinda getting frustrated with my wake. I can't seem to clear it at all. I was running 70ft on my A-line, but the wake was really wide. I took about 5ft off and I'm still not clearing it. It actually doesn't feel any different than when I was running 70ft. What could be the issue?

Many things determine how easy it is to clear a wake. Even 65 feet can be difficult on boats with wide wakes like a newer X-star, especially at slower speeds. I am not familiar with the X-30 wake, but I would suggest the following:

- Shorten your rope to 50 feet. Can you clear? Then slowly lengthen it.
- What speed are you running? This is dependent on your age, skill, and ballast. But if you are running slow (18 - 19 mph) speed up to 20 - 22 mph.
- Technique. Incorrect wake jumping technique is the main culprit to an inability to clear the wake for most beginners. A lesson from a local pro can make a huge difference.

70 off at 22mph factory ballast with two adults and 2 small kids in the boat. 07 X-Star.
