This weekend when I was out on the water I noticed that when I hit really rough water at sking speeds the engine would die for a split second. It was like I cut the engine and started it back all in the same second. It was really weird. I think I have either a loose wire somewhere or a bad switch. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I found a couple problems on my '88 in the last year, one of which was causing the same problem.

1) Take a look at the electrical connections for your condensor wire -- mine was hanging by a thread -- can't even believe it ran at all
2) Make sure your purple wire to your coil is tight at ignition switch and at the coil end.
3) Try removing the grey wire from your coil. This is the tach signal wire. Its a longshot, but my tach was going bad and somehow was shorting out my coil. I removed the wire (haven't installed the new tach yet) and it has never run better.

Also try changing out your plug wires if you haven't done that in a while.
