Has anyone installed an oil filter relocate kit? I use the zip lock bag and rag beneath it trick and it works "ok" but it would be much more simple if I didn't have to stand on my head to change it out.

Tagging on for info.

I also want to relocate the oil filter. I think Amsoil has a kit, just started researching though.

I bought a kit from JC Whitney for a Nissan Sentra. I got tired of reaching up under the intake manifold for the filter and having the oil pour in my ears. I ran stainless tubing between the old mount location and the new mount location, along with a pressure gauge and drain valve. It looked reasonably cool for a Sentra....but in the end it was still just a Sentra. :-)

Just ordered the kit from Summit. Guess I'll have an after the 4th of July project now.

Thanks Rob

So...how'd it work?

I just did the stand-on-my-head oil change and I don't want to do it again.

I'm ashamed to admit that nearly a year later, it's still on the to-do list...

I moved the box with the kit to a different location on the workbench. Maybe this year......

Glad to see that I'm not the only one...

The same as it was since the 50's. It's a messy process - but can be done drip less with vacuum tank.
A little odd builders engine talent stops here.

My mod to change oil with bulk vacuum tank is now less than a minute out the drain hose with hot oil.
When it sucks it dry - new oil is added, and wait till new oil starts to come out before closing it off.

I just did the stand-on-my-head oil change and I don't want to do it again.Darn Right - I just did my first one on the 04-209 - and you are right - After an hour fighting to get new filter on - I removed hood struts - Hood out of the way - and ended up on my head both arms reaching in to finally getting filter on.
Insane - never again.
I'll be making re-location kit next project.

I cut a hole in my side panel right by the oil filter. It made it a ton easier and a lot less labor intensive and cheaper.
