View Full Version : What surfboard do you ride?

Figured with all the new boards out and changes in technology it would be a good time to discuss boards. I will be in the market for another board in the future and really dont have a clue what to look for.

I ride a Liquid Force Fish 5-0 and love it. Its great for all around use and accommodates everyone that I take out, big and small. Could be a little looser. I may take out the center fin and see how it feels....

I'm getting to the point where I want a faster board, and would be interested in something with twin tips..... Does such a board exist?

don't have much experience with wakesurfers but it seems pretty quick and still loose with the 3 fin setup.

I am running an OBrien Alias TT. It's twin tip and has a ton of fin configurations. And I got mine for under $200.

Sure is, but this was before I learned how to ride "correctly". No rope now and able to no rope double!

That is Mr Walker himself. I think I read where Inland Surfer bought him out. He's been building wake surfboards for a long time now.

Good board, but it is a MASSIVE step up if you7 move to an Island Surfer. Even bigger step up to a Walker board.

I bought a Hyperlite Broadcast at the boat show for 300 bucks. I really wasn't sure if I was going to like surfing so I didn't want to drop the $$ on an IS or Walker -- especially since I got a new wakeboard setup this winter. I'm pretty happy with it overall though since I can ride without the rope and am starting to do a couple tricks.

Not sure what I'm missing with the boards that are twice the price.

You are missing being able to progress at a faster rate. Don't get me wrong, that's a good board to learn on but it's kind of like driving a Moomba Outback V compared to X-25. Catch my drift? Why go all out on the boat and cheap on the surfboard?

Different people, different companies. Mike Walker (The Walker Project) and Jeff/James Walker, Flyboy which was recently purchased by Inland Surfer. To further confuse the issue, Jeff/James used to be affiliated with TWP, but split off awhile ago to do their own thing with Flyboy.

Makes sense. I figured I would need a newbie board for the boat so that's why I went with the cheaper board first.

Agree with S2S 110%. There is a massive difference between any of the production run boards and a custom wakesurfer. One you ride Walker, you'll have trouble going back to any other board.

No wonder all the information just seems to blend together when it comes the the names walker and surfboards.

Surfco Hawaii makes a bunch of different nose and tail protectors for both long and short boards, most are pretty flexible so they should have something that you could fit on whatever you are riding.

This if from earlier today on my Inland Surfer Squirt. I got it earlier this summer and I love it. I also have a Liquid Force Venture 5'6", it's a good starter board. The Squirt is a lot quicker to turn and move around on the wake. I picked up the Squirt from Bart's as factory blem for $299, it's a great board for that price.

Have to agree with the above post about Phase 5. My little brother loves his Drew Danielo board. Great board, just a little expensive. Only ended up getting it because my cousin knew Danielo through skim-boarding, so he scored us a "blemished" model haha... Couldn't find a picture of it, so I cropped it out of another photo... Used to be red, but after a few years it has started to look more pinkish. Again, you wouldn't be disappointed with anything from www.phase5boards.com

I have a line on a new 5' Ronix Koal for around $250.

Coming off of a 4' 6" Liquid Force Fish I'm thinking its going to be way too long...... Thoughts? Will this board ride looser than the Fish?
