I have acquired a new 2011 Ford F150. I will be pulling a PS197 on a Mastercraft tandem wheel trailer. I currently own a straight mount and ball that slides directly into the receiver on the truck. The ball is at the same level as the receiver hitch on the truck. Should I be lowering the height of the ball by using a different mount? What is the best alignment for the mount between my F150 and my trailer? Should I get an adjustable ball/mount device?

2" drop on my 06 f150 4x4 with 20" wheels with a tandem axle, your need to get the trailer as level as possible so your height may be different...

I am using a 5.25" drop on my 07 expedition with air leveling.

There used to be a spec in the owners manual that gave the correct trailer ball height. If not, your dealer's service might be able to answer that question. Otherwise there are sure to be plenty of responses here.

The number I have seen thrown around for years is 18" off the ground at the ball.

01 expedition with a 2" drop.

yep, top of ball 18-20 inches (top of ball mount prior to ball installation 16-18 inches) sitting on level ground. get the correct drop to fit in that range and you are set to go.
