When you go to the M/C website and try to "Design a Boat", I do not see Powerslot as an "option" ... is there a reason for this?

I seem to remember reading that MC is trying to get away from that gear reduction transmissions in their ski boats. I believe the article said that only Tournament Team editions would be available with that option. With the high HP and nice torque bands of todays engines I am not sure that Powerslot is necessarily needed.

But the "other guy" makes gear reduction standard ... however, for a feature that the dealer tells me is a 2K option on a 197 (as it was in 05, and supposedly for 06 as well???), I wish there was more literature on the M/C website. Some of the 05's I see on different M/C dealer websites show the 1.5:1 ratio, but I have also read that the ratio was changing ... is this true???? At 6'4" 200+, the hole shot of the powerslot is just icing on the cake. I had it on a 98' Sammy 190 and ever since I have "required it." I'm sure it is overkill, but the problem is that there are not any boats on lots up in E. Washington to take out and compare side by side, so do I order the 350hp engine without the powerslot, only to later wish I had it (when I get fat), or get the 385 hp with no slot ut pay the extra $$ ... there must be a reason that the TT boats still use powerslot as an option (right??). I wish though that it was either standard or not available. M/C's are not a price point boat, and if the Co. told its customers that the "slot" was standard b/c it was better for their product line, I think we would all just deal with the price increase ... I doubt 1-2K would really push someone to an inferior product, leaving only CC as the competition, and they already have gear reduction .. and while the 196 may compare to MC's 190, it is no match for the versatility of a 197 with a mini or full tower, nor can one truly compare the 206 to the 197, the only true 5-event approved towboat. My rant for the night!

i have the powerslot/385hp on my tt, and i hardly notice the diffrence between my buddies mcx with standard tranny. he weighs 230 and pulls him fine. in my opinion dont waste your money on it.

If you are predominantly course skiing I wouldn't be without it. The boat tracks better with the larger prop (accompanied with the gear reduction) besides accelerating better as well. Being 6'3" and 220 it is a blessing...why waste all that energy just getting up, let the boat do the work. In 2006 MSRP for the option is $1455. Ratio for 197/X7 is 1.26:1 and for a 209/X9 is 1.52:1. To the best of my knowledge MasterCraft has no intention of removing this option anytime soon.

Personally I feel that it adds to the overall performance and feel of the 197. In the last 4 years this dealership has sold only one PS197 without the PowerSlot option, and it was custom ordered.

Just because an option is not listed on DAB does not mean it's no longer available or not promoted. Most of the options on DAB are there because they are very similar or available on all of the models (for the most part). Do to spacing and look some options that are not listed or a vague representation is there instead (tower lights - one choice but there are many different configurations). The tool is there to drive leads and help people visualize what their "perfect" MC looks like. Your dealer will ultimately be involved when you order your boat and they "should" present all of the available option at that time.

Thx. MYMC, having never been to your dealership in Charlotte, NC I can only compliment from afar. My brother and I enjoy your website and the forums (in addition to the ones here at TT). 6'3" - 218 (so yes, the quicker we get up, the better).

Thx TTAdmin.

Well, as soon as the kids get up we can head to the water ... sunny and in the 90's today!

I primarly slalom ski on a private site. You really appreciate gear reduction when you pull up a 240 lb skier through the course. I won't own another boat without it.

Casey,
You said you have never done a side by side with two different trannys. I have a 95 LT1 with a 1:1 and if you want to do a side by side, I would be real curious myself. I am also a big guy and don't do much couse skiing but I have never had a complaint behind my boat for the every now and again small time course guy. Let me know. Might be fun!
