Hi my name is Doug...and I ski at 34mph...I always felt so much pressure at the club to ski at 36 but...it just scared me...I have a wife and a son to take care of and I knew it was only a year or two before I turned 35 and could ski at 34mph so I fought the peer pressure and continued to ski at 34mph...It's so nice to get that off my chest...Thanks everyone

Be careful, if you just turned 35 recently you still "must" ski at 36. For tournaments in 2011, your year of birth must have been at least 1975 to ski at 34 mph. My five year plan of practicing at 34mph for when I turned 35 was crushed first time in the course last year when that was explained to me. I had to go through yet another season of razzing about how I should be skiing 36mph...even though I was 35. This year, I'm officially a 34mph skier...lol...it was all in good fun though.

Our oldest member really receives a hard time as his speed is now 30mph. Not a pass goes by that we don't tell him how slow that was.

I don;t even like 34 - I ski at 32/33 - my goal each year is to run the course @ 17.50

Don't feel bad. I was born in 62 and I don't ski a course at all. I feel my age and wisdom give me the right to do whatever the heck I please....as long as I ask the wife first.

I have skied at 34 mph...since...always. Never could get the hang of it at 36. Of course, now I'm 38 years old, so its justified!

37 years young here. 36 mph just isn't comfie for me...I always seemed rushed and that's not why I ski. I ski for fun and to relax. Its all in how smooth i can ski.

WIMP! I just turned 36 and have no plans to slow the boat down. Love the speed and 34 mph feels like I'm crawling.

In all seriousness ski where you are comfortable. Its all about enjoying time on the water.

38 y/o here and skiing at 34 now and always. I didn't start skiing tourneys until i was 35 due to that fact as well. I like 36 every now and then cuz i like the speed, but I can't move up the line at 36. It is not forgiving enough for me. I am a wimp I guess.

I say ski what you like, I'm about to turn 37 soon, never have slowed the boat down, still going 36mph. I figure the year I stop getting better at 36mph is the year I slow the boat down. My big compliant is if I want to ski a tournament I would be in a division of 34mph skiers handicapping myself. They should make another division for 36mph skiers who are older than 35 and aren't good enough for an open rating.
