I need to replace the original prestolite v-pulley alternator on my 1993 prostar 190 - 351 ford. Does anyone know of a good place online to purchase one? How do I know which one will work on my boat? Should I go to a higher amp if replacing?

You can always have your alternator rebuilt locally, no need to upgrade the amps unless your going to upgrade the sound system...

Have you or will you add an amplifier? I installed a small 550 (5 channel)amp. I went to a 65amp alt. You can go up to 65amps max, with existing #4 wiring, going larger than that, you have to up grade positive and ground wire accordingly. (Stereo guys say to always go up one size, reguardless.) Also, up grade battery, to larger capacity or multiple.

Let others have said, cheap way, go to local alt shop.

I recommend skidim since I use them for most all of my engine parts.

Have it rebuilt- that way, you'll never doubt it will fit and a good shop can increase the capacity to whatever the case will handle.
