Here are some pics (sorry for the crappy quality) of a 12" sub I installed under the dash of my X15. The previous sub was under the observers seat and I was never happy with how it sounded, probably due to it not being vented into the boat. For this I tried a ported box and cut a vent under the dash.

YES! which RE is that?

I have several... RE SE / RE SX / and currently im running the RE SXX

I run the RE SXX @ 1ohm with about 1336watts rms, in a ported box tuned to 34hz in my land rover. Amazing sub.

It's an SX12. So the same as yours I think. I'm really happy how it sounds. It's getting around 1000W since I didn't want to change amps right now but I'll probably but some more power to it in the future.

The SXX changed the basket and tinsels, which was an issue on the SX, if you push them too hard.

How do you like this setup after ~1 year of running? Do you have any issues with the in dash components or electrical gear? I have my 2011 X-15 in the shop for a similar set up right now. They've warned me about the potential to get a 'whistle' since so much air will be moving through the 7.5" port / pass through. The shop is encouraging me to locate the set-up underneath the Port passenger seat locker; however, I really do not want to lose the storage.

I'm happy with the location. I haven't had any problems with it in that location but I definitly had to secure some rattling from the dash. I think this is mostly to do with the vent not being big enough. My plan is to really open up the vent more. I believe it's a 10" diamter hole and with the amount of air the sub moves it still want to lift up the front seats. I now have another sub in the passanger seat locker so either spot should work for you.
