View Full Version : Bow roller scuffing? Best way to get rid of this?

It seems everytime I load the boat, the orange bow roller leaves horrible looking scuffs on the bow of the boat. Has anyone changed their orange roller to a clear one? What is the best way to get these marks off? Thanks

i swapped to a trailer buddy, no more scuffs.

Are the scuffs damage to the gel? Does some of the roller rub off on the gel? Is it discolored in any way?

The roller is supposed to roll; perhaps you need some adjustment/lube or a new roller. They make stainless scuff protection plates to stick to the boat, but I don't know if you want one of those.

I switched from a boat buddy to a roller, no more scuffs.:D Just make sure the roller spins freely. Here (http://www.iboats.com/SeaSense-Poly-Vinyl-Super-Bow-Roller/dm/cart_id.129829756--session_id.605933439--view_id.343878) is the one I got.

I have an orange bow roller too and it doesn't scuff. It rolls freely though. The Boat Buddy it replaced didn't really "scuff" but transfered rubber to the gel. I think it's just that UV damages the plastic over the years and it starts to rub off on the gel. A new roller that rolls smoothly and keeping that area waxed will probably take care of it.

To answer your question of how to get them off. Mr Clean Magic Eraser will get them off with little effort and no damage to the gel. Follow up with a little wax.

the black original one did all my damage. Switched to the orange and no problems. Are you sure it is not prexisting?
