In June we're taking our annual trip to a good friend's lake house on Lake Keowee in SC. He has an 03 X-7 with the ballast bag under the rear seat. This year I'm thinking of taking one of my 400 lb. sacs from my boat along with my Tsunami pump.

I have 400 lb. sacs plumbed into my v-drive lockers and a 350-370 sac in the ski locker not plumbed in. I was thinking of just taking one my v-drive sacs on the trip to use in his boat.

Would this be enough extra weight get to surf without the rope behind his boat? We should have a pretty good sized crew of people to move around in the boat also. Anyone have any tips on the best place to put the extra 400 sac?

I also have an X-7 that I would like to surf behind. I have never surfed and dont want to buy a board and additional sacs over that factory bag if the boat won't produce a surfable wake. If anyone has a good recipe for creating a surf wake behind the X-7 I am interested in hearing it.

havent surfed an X7, but did surf a 2004 197 TT in college. we'd normally have 6 people on the boat with a 400 on the stern surf side. Wake was big enough to ride handleless, but not very big. Had to be pretty skilled to stay in the wake (learned to surf on a 79 S&S could ride handleless...)

That being said, I have a 2005 X2 now, and its definitely not the best surf boat either. Got spoiled with a certain 09 X2 that kills it for surfing. looking forward to seeing what an X25 surf would be like...

Im sure you can get at least an ok wake. I have 2 750# bags that i put in either corner depending if Regular or goofy and I can surf easily without the rope and I have an 84 S&S. I dont know much about an X-7 but with enough weight anything is possible. Is it gonna be an X-45 wake? NO. But it will be surfable.

How the heck did you weight the 79? Seems that when the wake is there it is to close to the back of the boat

Thanks for the help. We'll have quite a few people to move around and I'll bring 1 of my 400 lb. -drive sacs from my boat. I think we'll be able to make it work.

I also thank you guys for the tips.

Demolition - What is your set up you got with that picture? How many people? How much ballast? Where is it all located?

Over the 4th of July, I had my rear ballast bag full on my X7 with about 6 people in the boat and I couldn't drop the handle, but my wife almost could. She weighs 135 and I'm 175. We were borrowing a Ronix Cortez board but I don't remember the length. Boat speed was about 10-11mph (Is this too fast or too slow?). I now have an additional 750lb sac to put in the boat. I am looking for suggestions as to which board I should get to surf behind this setup. Also any additional suggestions on changing my set up would be great. Please don't say get a X25.:D
