Just curious... but why the Boatmate rather than the MasterCraft trailer?

Awesome boat!
Just curious... but why the Boatmate rather than the MasterCraft trailer?

I'm not speaking for him but I just got my 07 x-45 and it didn't have a trailer and i got a boat mate. one it comes standrad with metal fenders and the f2 jack but it was also 2k cheaper than the new mastercraft trailers.

Oh and I love the 25

wpstevenson
05-31-2011, 01:23 PM
ewood has it, f2 jack, boat buddy, low profile tires, 18 inch wheels and $$. I miss the steps on the mc trailer though.

so far, all agree it drives better, turns better, smoth ride, the surf wake so far is about the same as the x15 loaded out, I don't have all the ballast in the 25 yet, the wakeboard wake is much better with just stock ballast than the x15 with 2100 lbs. I have skied the course with the x15 and plate down, from what i have seen on the wake at 32 mph no ballast on the 25, the wake is to big to really hit it hard on a ski. I have freinds with ski tournament boats so it isn't an issue for me. x25; room, ride, surf?, wakeboad is better, x15 skiies better.

Sweet boat, love the red.

As for the trailer, Mastercraft trailers rock compared to the boat mate. I had a boat mate with my Malibu Response LXi and I hated it. The rudder guard is lower and drags alot, the boat is a pain in the *** to get centered on the trailer at the ramp, the roller on the front marks the hell out of the boat, and its UGLY!

wpstevenson
06-04-2011, 11:24 AM
i'm not sure about the tailer yet, i have had 13 different MC's and this is my first non mastercraft trailer. I think the boatmate trailer looks good, i like the low profile tires and wheels, led runway lighting, aluminum tread plate, built in ratchets tie downs, boat buddy on mine no roller, same ratchet and boat jack as MC. i like the vault bearings on the boat mate trailer.

The mc trailer has steps on the back and front of the trailer to get in the boat i really miss them, the mc trailer does seem to align the boat better when loading. I have not had an x25 before though so i don't have a direct compairison on the loading. The mc trailer has a more finished look.

so far, all agree it drives better, turns better, smoth ride,

I am actually surprised to hear you say that it turns better..... I find that my X25 is not really that good with sharper turns compared to a X15. I went in a X45 last weekend and that 24 footer was more nimble than the X25. I can say that if I back off the throttle, turn, and then throttle back up, it turns nice and sharp. I just dont think it handles as well as most other MCs because of the deep V. That deep V provides one heck of a smooth ride though!!

Maybe mine turns a little more sluggishly because of the tracking fins??

I can say that this boat is very stable at higher speeds with the tracking fins though....

Were you at Center Hill over memorial day weekend by any chance? I was driving back to Nashville and saw a red X-25 being towed by a red silverado just west of the lake.

Is that rig (X-25 on the boatmate) to tall to fit in the garage? I just bought one but haven't picked it up yet. I didn't think the height would be an issue, but looking at your pics, I might be looking for an alternate storage place.

On A MC trailer, you will need an 11' door to get it in the garage with the tower up. A 10'6" would probably do it also....it would be close though.

I have a boatmate trailer and a ZFT 5p Tower. I am hoping they drop low enough to not be an issue.

We were actually looking at a used 205V. We have a place on Cordell Hull, but occasionally go out to Center Hill

x-25 -power tower with mc trailer and camera requires 100" clear to get through a door with the tower down.

anyone have zero off on a 2011 with the big, does the speed control turn off every time you turn your boat off. Mine would stay on until you turned it off, a friend hit some keys when i was riding. Now everytime the boat is turned off the cruise goes off, u have to remember to turn it back on. ?? tried a bunch of things to get it back, tried hard reset of the big, still the same??

Now that you have some time on that X-25 whats your thoughts ? My x-25 went into production 8-1 cant wait to get it. How is the power with the 5.7 ? I opted for the 6.0

Trig2275
08-14-2011, 04:47 PM
Mine goes off if you turn the boat off as well however it's always been that way. No big deal for me until it's my turn to ride and the new driver forgets until we're going about 30mph.

Eagle
08-14-2011, 07:56 PM
Yep, my X-25 with Perfect Pass also turns off when the key is turned off. I remember to turn it back on about 75% of the time before the rider hits 25 mph :)

Great looking boat. I have to ask at this point.... do the Ilmore exhaust manifolds make it impossible to remove the valve covers without remove the exhaust?

If it helps, my wife and I just purchased a 2012 Boatmate tandem axle with 18" low-profiles that replaced our MC single axle that was stolen. It actually sits lower than our OEM MC and allows us to get in the garage much easier, height wise that is.

Nice ride wpstevenson! We just picked up our 2012 Boatmate for our X-2 and like it thus far. It's a little trickier to load but we like the overall looks. We have chrome decals on order for the sides of the trailer to give it more of an OEM look. The Boatmate saved us a lot of money too and couldn't agree more about the bearings. Congrats!

I have a low profile boatmate as well and it rocks. With the boat buddy it only takes a few minutes to pull the boat out by myself. Rides perfect down the road. Just have to be careful not to curb a wheel.

so did the power tower come out in 12 or was it an option for an 11? I would prefer not to have it and dont like the 12 non power tower. Looks like I would have to get an 11. Was there a discount due to being an 11? You mind telling what you paid?

I really like the x25, the 5.7 ilmore has plenty of power, but I drove a x45 last week with the ilmore 6.0. That was a blast to drive, my next x25 I'll get the ilmore 6.0 just for the fun factor.

I would like to find out how to return the zero off so it stays on until you turn it off. I'm always forgetting to turn it back on and worse when i'm in the water and a driver unfamiler with the big turns the boat off to hear, then speen control is off. ??? Has to be some setting mine stayed on until you turned it off for the fist two months of it's life

Same thing happened to me. But I realised that the zero off will stay on if it has "No Rider" as the selected profile.

Word of caution with that trailer, it does not have the "V-Bunk" down low that will center the V of the boat when loading and stop the bow from raising up on the boat buddy. If you power load and the trailer is too deep, hit the boat buddy too hard it will spin around and really mess up your gel coat. My X2 has the V-Bunk, so basically the V hits at the same time as the boat buddy. Not really sure why they are not putting them on the X25's.

x-25 -power tower with mc trailer and camera requires 100" clear to get through a door with the tower down.

I already talked to my MC service guy. They are going to remove the ski pylon/camera during winterization. Apparently removing the pylon assemby is a pretty straight forward task, but requires a special tool - no BS, he showed me the tool.

Once the pylon is removed I can pull it into my 8' garage door with an inch to spare:)
