I have a factory style dual battery set-up where one battery is mounted below the level of the carpet in a sealed enclosure that fills with water from people getting in & out and rain water. Can I drill a hole through this enclosure into the hull to allow this water to drain into the hull and be pumped out with the bilge pump?

Check this thread... probably not a good idea.

Thanks that was exactly the kind of reasoning I was looking for... I knew that they had to have a good reason not to have put a drain in it, but that does not answer how to prevent this water pooling around the battery. Any ideas?

Possible to make a dam around the box half an inch tall or something so the water can't run in there?

I am not sure, most of the people I have seen with the problem have just resigned to emptying the water out. The batteries aren't mounted like that in mine, I just remember seeing that thread a while back.
