I'm a long time lurker. Love the site. I'm helping my brother replace the pads and rotors on a single axel 1999 MC trailer for our Prostar 190 this weekend. This means he watches while I wrench.

He's lost the manual and I was hoping someone knew if the brakes and rotors were available through local autoparts supply. Seems like most of these boat trailers used Chrysler K car pads and rotors. If anyone has the part #'s or can cross reference , it would be greatly appreciated.I'm hoping the MC trailer parts aren't dealer exclusive? It would save me a drive.

Thanks

Drum or disk?

I have all the numbers for a '98 single-axle trailer with the 5200 pound axle; if you have the same they likely didn't change.

The drum brakes suck, because getting cross-referenced parts is tough. But, the parts are fairly inexpensive if you buy them the right way. For example, buying new shoes and slave cylinder is fairly expensive, but you can buy the whole backing plate (http://www.pacifictrailers.com/boat-trailer-hydraulic-surge-brake-assemblies-backing-plates/) for $50, and it's trivial to install.

I'd guess that your trailer uses UFP (http://ufpnet.com/) parts; they redesigned their site a year or two ago and dropped all mention of their older stuff. You might want to call them tomorrow and see if they can give you any hints.

Thanks. It's Chrysler K car parts. I have a UFP catolog since a rebuilt one last year. 91 Plymoth Reliant rotors and pads.
