What is the differences between an 86' MC and a 88' MC 190? I can see the change in the windshield and a slightly different top. Is there any hull differences? Is there more interior room? Good photos always help please

you can look at my pics, I not sure, about differences, though, but bradsamerry's boat is identical to mine except for the design on the skins, and I know he has some good pics....

One of the biggest changes that MC made between the 86 and the 87 was that they dropped the prop an inch deeper in the water. This resulted in a quieter ride because there is not as much prop wash hitting the hull. Other than that below the rub rails is identical in an 86 and an 88. The way that they changed the layout in the 87 (and 88) results in the observers seat being closer to the engine cover, so you do not have as much leg room for observers.

Didn't realize that they dropped the prop. The hull is the same 86-90 but the new deck and interior didn't start until 87. There were only very minor changes each year from 87 - 90. 87 had a white dash, slightly different vinyl pattern each year, 90 had a different motor box. Never been in an 86 so don't know about room. Buddy of mine has an 81 and the interior room is only slightly better in my 88. My boat is tight. Two adults in the observers seat is very close quarters but the back seat is roomy. The combing pads do make a big difference as far as storage though. Check my gallery for a couple of good interior pictures.

'87 had vent windows in the windshield that open and close. The '88s I've seen didn't have them. They really aren't very functional and are a PITA to open/close if they weren't installed right from the factory (like mine).

In 88 they also raised the windshield a little higher

So what changes were made in 91 over the prior years? When did the hull actually change from my hull (86') What advantages did the newer hull have?

others probably know more, but from my studies, 6" longer, and wider....

I believe 91 was the year they added hull chines to cut the spray on skiers! that hull was 91-94 I think!

I beg to differ sir.

Isn't your boat an '87 and isn't that picture white or is it grey? If it is '87 and grey maybe the '87s had main color dashes and '88 went to black.

'91 was the hull change and it was the same through '94. I believe as stated above a few inches wider and longer and some spray relief pockets although those boats still have spray. Obviously'91 also changed decks and interior as well. Many still thing the '91 -'94 is the best sking MC ever.
