I assume it has a 351 engine, if so you should use oil with sufficient zink because of the flat tapped cams in this engines(your cam can wear out quickly if not), many modern oils don't have this these days. I don't know what you can get i the US but search for 351 and motor oil and you should find important info.

I have run Shell Rottella T 15-40 and also I would think any brand name synthetic oil. How many hours on it?
Filter --I use Motorcraft mostly--FL1 is the number I think. It's a spin on type.

Wix 51515 is the FL1 equivalent. I use this with Mobil 1 in my '89.

I have used Motorcraft Filters and Castrol (NON SYNTHETIC) in my 351 for 20 Years... No Issues.. Not even a Valve Job yet.. Still runs like a champ and pulls like a freight train.. Just make sure its Full of Oil and you change it before Winter...

I have used Amsoil 15/40 CI diesel oil for years. I also use their filter in my 83 powerslot.
