My son is heading up to Oregon to try out for the Ducks. We will be driving from Georgia to Eugene Oregon, What are some of the sights should we try to take in as we go cross country?

that's a pretty serious road trip!
I just did a simple Yahoo Maps trip from "Georgia" to "Eugene OR" and came up with 2725 miles (yikes!). just a couple of places on this route would include Graceland in TN, the Arch in St. Louis, take a nap thru Kansas, Nebraska & most of Wyoming (I personally would try to drive that stretch at night)... Great Salt Lake, side trip up to Yellowstone (and Glacier if you have another day or two). Once complete in OR, venture on up to Seattle & San Juan islands before heading back to Georgia...

Wheeldog, good luck to your son and be sure to let us know where he winds up.
I've got 3 more years before my twins graduate HS. I told the one that plays FB, that if he got the chance to play at the next level, that I would be there on Saturdays to watch. He of course, replied with "what if it's somewhere on the west coast". My reply, "doesn't matter, I'll be there regardless"

Not sure which route you're going, but the caverns in Carlsbad, NM are pretty amazing.
