Hi all,

In my boat, last year I added a Sony CDX-M60UI to replace the stock Clarion since I wanted Ipod hookup and I still have the factory Clarion speakers that no longer have surrounds on them, lol It's time for an upgrade. I also added a tower last year therefore I would like to add speakers there as well

I see everyone on here with fancy stereo's from JL/Wetsounds etc. but I paid 5k for this boat (from my boss, was an amazing deal with only 160hrs on it) and I'm not ready to drop a tonne of money for stereo since we will be upgrading the boat in a few years and I know for sure that won't increase the value of the boat.

My friend works at a shop and he can get a crazy deal on Kicker this month, 60% off MSRP which is great. I know their stuff is not high end, I know this because my buddy's 09 Moomba XLV came with Kicker stock (OUCH, hahaha) but for the price, I think I need to go with it.

Here's what I'm looking at doing, this is all RMS power:

I tried to ensure that the Amp was not underpowered in any areas so I didn't have to turn up the gain to compensate for lack of power.

**Real question**
The only area where I am fearful is the tower speakers, I'm not 100% sure that they will be good enough, or be able to be heard when wakeboarding.

These are the specs: http://www.kicker.com/kmt60

Alternatively, I could source some tower cans and order these kicker HLCD's: http://www.kicker.com/km65002

It would cost me the same for the speakers but then I need to buy cans which I priced out at $500 for a nice tower bar with lights and 4 empty cans.

Do you think it's worth the extra $500 to get the HLCD's?

Without the extra cans I'm looking at total cost of $800 which I think is pretty darn good.

Thoughts?

JM

I'm still stuck on the part where you said you were gonna upgrade to a different boat? That 205 is freaking awesome and for the price you paid versus the low hours, you have a boat that will last for at least 10 years w/o any major work if you take good care of it.

Pics of boat?

(I'm partial to the 205 obviously)

lol, thanks :)

I'll have to get some updated pics when I'm done putting the tower back on it and finish cleaning the interior. It's a Sammy Duvall not that it makes much difference. but the boat is in fantastic shape.

I just see all these Xstars and X2's etc. around with all the fancy gismo's and want up upgrade.

Although I like the wake on my 205 better than my friends 09 Moomba he bought as a Demo for 50k. I haven't skiied behind mine yet, well, haven't skiied ever but I think that will help me want to keep this boat.

Please post a pic withOUT the tower! :)

The 205 is a great 3-even boat, and can serve as a boarding boat, but it's original intent was 3-event.

The only thing i do not like about my 205 is the 22 off bump.

lol alright, I'll take pics with it finished cleaning before I put the tower back on, it looks better without the tower no question about that, but 99% of what we do with the boat is wakeboard (recreationaly of course, no pros here) I am demoing a ski in 2 weeks so I can't wait!

Anyone have advice? Ordering the stuff tomorrow and wondering if the HLCD's would be better buy than the tower pods they sell?

Thanks!
