I would call them that to their face. I work with them quite often. Also pretty sure I know a thing or two about weapons.

They are "dolls". Look at the arms...they are plastic. You can find these all over ebay. And if you look at their weapons, they are incorrect. The top guy on the right is holding a M110. This is not used by the SEALS. They use the SR-25 SWS.

And do what? Sit behind a desk? I personally know someone in every branch and they all have respect for the others. I know SEAL's, Navy sailors, Marines, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard members. Most of which have been over to Iraq or Afghanistan more then once. Never once have they bad mouthed the other service. Each one has their role in protecting your ***!
Sounds like you may have gotten rejected?

About the picture, it is figurines . You can tell the arms are plastic.

The guys arm on the far right caught my eye right away. Either it's plastic or he shaves his body hair and then puts on lotion! They guy (doll) kneeling in front doesn't look natural and his gloves look like they are way too big and made out of a potato sac. Come on people, use your brain for one second. You gotta love the internet!

Too much detail to be dolls. Zooming in you can see dirt on the shoes, a loose shoelace, fabric stitching, and loose threads. You can even see veins on one of the arms. Does anyone know the origin of the photo?

Sorry bud, they are dolls. First off, NO ones uniform or weapon is every that clean. Look at the 60.

You can order them with any outfit you want. A lot of active duty dudes get them done with their own names on the name tapes.

so do lot's of people, most dont seem to think they're better than a navy seal.

Never said we were better than the SEALs, only said they have an inflated budget for their mission set which is pretty one dimensional. I'll be the first to say that they are good at what they do, but that one thing is all they do. The fact is, the reason they are getting all this attention right now, is because it was put out that the SEALs did the Bin Laden mission. If they really were the ones that participated in the mission, they weren't alone. There are a few other groups out there that played an integral part in that night. All I'm saying is don't be a slave to the media.

On another note, yeah, my "fat @$$" sits behind a desk all day. That's why I decided to chime in on this subject. Please...

You'd be surprised to know that us guys that love protecting your ***, are the ones that never say it. I don't have to go around telling other people what I do and why I'm so "great" in order to validate myself. To be honest, most of us hate the military as a whole because it has moved from an organization that was once respected to one that is full of "yes men" that are only looking out for their next career move. Politics have ruined a once great institution. I plan on doing what I do for many years to come, but it doesn't mean that I have to agree with every little thing that plays into it. I'm sure CantRepeat can agree. I know he spent many years serving this country and can comment on the shift in the military. Didn't mean to through you under the bus "Top"

No worries.

Worse even yet there are two extremes with junior/mid grade officers. Some are more worried about coming home with all their fingers and toes and about their "next" assignment then they are with leading men. That's probably the worst officer you could ever have in a company level command. Then there's the other extreme when they want a fire fight so badly they make even worse decisions for their men and without a strong 1SG to guide that nucklehead it can get bad.

The Army changed a lot over my 24 years in the Infantry. We saw a great increase in the education level of basic enlisted Soldiers with the largest jump in college grads signing up enlisted. On the other hand we saw a complete and utter mess made of the officer pipeline which gave way to gross neglect of leadership at the top. Company grade commanders, first sergeants on up have the largest impact on Soldiers day to day lives and if it ain't right you'll see it come out in the end.

Absolutely. The number one reason guys are getting out these days is because of poor leadership. Hopefully it changes, but I'm not too optimistic.

sometimes having a specialist that only does one thing but does it well is worth the cost. that applies to the military and public, JMO.

Generally it's just the younger ones that take to this behavior. But, there's nothing wrong with being fired up about who you are when it comes to kicking in doors. Each and everyone of them has my respect. I'd just as quickly buy a beer for an Airman, Sailor, or Marine as I would a Soldier.

The issue I was trying to point out is that the SEALs are a special operations unit that have a huge budget to do one job. There are other special operations units operating out there with a far smaller budget and doing 7+ missions.

Nick, tbh I'd give more money to the seals and every other SOCOM/USASOC team out there and to the rest of the units. I don't think this is a steal from peter to pay paul kind of deal.

If there is a unit that isn't being funded correctly then that is an issue we need to look at.

Everyone knows it was a Delta Operator pulling the trigger on bin laden so the dream team gets the media hype and everyone buys it.

nickespi
05-25-2011, 05:35 PM
That's my point. ODAs are so underfunded it's ridiculous. I wouldn't say it was delta. I would guess dev guys. Think about it. Who's the joint chief of staff?
