Is this screen necessary? It is a little bent up and has a small hole in it. This is about half of the trash that was in it. Last weekend It would barely idle, wanted to die, and the fuel pump was screaming. I am hoping this fixes it.

Better to catch the crap than pass it through the pump. That should have been cleaned out long ago- your boat was made before '99, when they switched to the in-tank pump and checking the fuel pressure is, or should be, an annual test.

This may help. http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=30935 If that boat went under water you may also want to check the fuel pump relays. I replaced my relay when I was having fuel pump problems. It ended up being the intake screen clogged at the pump but I ended up having to replace the fuel pump because it got weak after the screen clog episode.
