View Full Version : UPDATE to window tint thread

UPDATED WITH PICS! The guy actually took the glass out of the frame and tinted the window edge to edge so there would be no shrinkage in the heat, I love how it looks! I went 20%.

I wanted to update my previous window tint thread. I decided to take the windows off and take them in to the tint shop. This took me a total of 30 minutes! I peeled back the outside weather strip and removed about 9 torx screws on each window frame and picked them up and put them in my truck by myself (not heavy at all). I dropped them off at the tint shop and they are putting 20% on them for me in the morning for $100.
While the windows are off I have taken the opportunity to clean all those hard/impossible to get places as well.

Just wanted to update everyone that this was extremely simple, at least on my boat it is (2006 X2). I will post pictures when I get them back tomorrow!

SICK! I would like to hear how you like driving at night though.

Thanks. I don't do a lot of driving at night and when I do I sit on the bolster and look over the window or I use GPS.

GPS keeps you from running into things? That's autopilot!:D
Seriously though, looks awesome. Been thinking about doing that to my black X2, but so far, I still want to be able to see out the windows even though most of the time I'm driving, it's w/ teh bolstr up looking over the windshield.

Ha Thrall! I thought of how dumb that sounded after I pushed reply. I should have said I use a combination of GPS and bolster seat at night.... GPS obviously doing nothing to keep me from running into stuff! Actually I rarely look out the window during the day!

I have thought about getting mine tinted, but not so dark. I was thinking like 30% or so.
