I'm looking for a boom for my 78' S&S. I will be teaching little one's to wakeboard, ski and barefoot. There are so many booms out there I'm getting confused. What is the difference between a BI 202 and a BI 204 boom? We will also have some adults using the boom for occassional footing and teaching them what their kids already know how to do. Thanks for the help.

I don't know the difference between BI 202 & 204, but what I do know is there are contoured and straight booms. Both contoured and straight fit on the ski pylon. Contoured are designed to fit around windshields while straight booms fit straight off the side of the boat. With your '78, you should be fine with a straight boom. I have a contoured on my '83 for no particular reason other than that was only only boom available when I bought it.

You really don't need a B204, it is designed for boat with a really long windshield frame or a V-drive. The B200 is a straight boom, this would work perfect for your boat, it will keep you as far forward as possible to eliminate spray from the boat. The B202 is a contour boom, it will also work the main difference is that it bends back a bit to accommodate a medium length windshield. I don't think a B202 would really cause any issues with spray so if you find one at the right price I'd buy it.

You can generally go to any of these barefooting websites like barefootcentral.com and they are very good about getting you the boom you need. I went through the same thing got an email back the next day what would be my best set up.

Thanks guys. I was thinking there was more to it. Like weight issues as far as the people that would use it. Sounds like it"s really what will work best for my boat. Thanks again for the input.

Definitely, CALL MIke Sepiel first before making any purchase regarding a boom.

Mostly because a boom is a MAJOR INVESTMENT.
One that you will certainly keep once you make it and as long as you own your boat.

Good Luck, let us know what you end up getting.

BTW, Mike usually answers 100% of the time :)
He's a GREAT GUY and highly knowledgeable concerning barefoot booms.
