Went out for the first ski with some buddies on Friday behind our new 197! So much fun, what a great boat. It was mighty cold though! Here's a video documenting it:

Intro consists of fast shots I've taken from the house over the last 30 days watching the ice melt

Nice video. That's true dedication. I can't wait to get out myself when the ice on the lakes is gone.

Brrr. Been there, done that. Didn't bring the hot water. That was a good idea ;-)

Yeah I couldn't bring myself to getting in the water but looks like they were having fun.

Is that your son or you that is doing all the covers? whomever it is he's pretty good.

Thanks for the positive comments! I was surprisingly warm in my "mostly" dry suit, though at the end I couldn't feel my hands or feet.

Cool, or should I say cold. Friday it was 95 air temp, the water was not that hot, but it sure wasn't that cold, and my wife kids were all chicken to get in. The kids all skied before the day was over, but they sure don't know how good they've got it. Lets see, nice warm water, nice boat, a Dad that needs only the slightest excuse to hit the water, and the lake is only 1 mile away. I sure didn't have it that good.

Nice boat and video. Just a few tips from another northern cold water skier. First take out the back seat and fill a large size cooler with six to eight inch's of hot water from your boat shower or from your house. That way after you ski, you can put both your feet and hands in at the same time. Also water proof the heck out of you knit stocking hat, preferably with the strongest stuff you can find.

That sounds awesome, you southern guys have it real nice right now. My threshold is no lower than 70 degree combination. That is 35 degrees air and 35 degrees water. If they have to break up the ice on the water for very long, I tend to just drive.

Love the boat, love the skiing too! But what I really loved was the Michael Hedges and Billy Mclaughlin covers done with that tasty Martin on your Youtube channel. Was that you or one of your sons? Great stuff! Thought Arial Boundaries was especially good. I miss Michael Hedges....

Thanks! That's actually me playing those covers as well. Glad you liked it :) And I also miss Hedges as well, never got to see him.

Great vid!! I wanna go!!! I always loved skiing in the cold. There was never any competition! I love jumping in without the wetsuit after the run. I still haven't pulled the trigger on a drysuit yet. 34F water in a wetsuit does give you a bit more motivation to get up the first time!

lol, I ask if it was you or your dad that was doing the covers. Since you say it's you, very nice talent. Hopefully you can turn that into something for yourself.
