What do/would you guys use for regular cleaning on the tower of my 2006 X2?
Metal polish/cleaner or what? Just looking for the easiest solution.

Thanks!
Jake

believe it or not Furniture polish works great and puts a good shine on it . leaves a protective coating on it and while pulling it if bugs get on it , they wipe off very easy

Supposedly Flitz polish is good for anodized aluminum. It's expensive though.

I use Mothers Mag Polish on my aftermarket, bare polished aluminum tower and it works really well. Not sure if it's safe for an anodized finish like the MC factory tower would have though.

Stainless Steel Magic...think the Depot stocks it.

I cut the bugs and gunk with a Brillo/Scotch pad first.

Looked at the mothers mag polish when I was in the garage and it said not recommended for anodized finishes.

Are the silver towers anodized clear or bare aluminum?

I believe its bare aluminum, how do I tell?

I dunno?
I didn't think you could anodize something clear and I know they're not clear coated like alumium wheels.
If it's oxidized, try some alumium or mag wheel cleaner in an inconspicuous spot. If just dirty, I use windshield cleaner the spray on type with ammonia to get the bugs off. Works well, spray on, let soak, wipe off.

The Zeroflex towers on the older X-30s are anodized. I checked the website. Guess that limits the options. I know I need to do a good scrubbing on mine here soon.

I have 2003 X30. So my tower is anodized? Look for the best way to clean and polish. Thanks.

A buddy of mine told me to use "Nevr Dull" on mine, has anyone ever tried it? Sells for $9.99 at Canadian Tire up here so you guys can probably get it for 5 bucks in the states.

I think never dull would end up removing the anodized finish from the tower which would mean you'd have to polish it all the time.
