First off, we couldn't be happier with how the boat turned out. Thank you to Jay, Bill, and Mikey at New England Freshwater Marine! Took it out for a maiden voyage in the 50 degrees air with 20+ mph winds. Can't wait to get out on that wake this weekend....

Now a couple issues I noticed...
- Plug and play ballast... It turns out that the front bag for the plug and play is intended to go in the walkway. Woah, that was totally unexpected. Can anyone else with an X25 and plug-and-play shed a little light on this? We were thinking that we may need to have some custom bags made for under the front seats but there's not a lot of room there. Also I broke off one of the clips that attach to the bags. *$#@$@

- Center flip-down cupholders/step. It's in the brochure. It's in the Zane video. It was even in the X25s at the factory and at the boat show. It's not in this boat. Please tell me this is a joke, i was actually looking forward to this feature!

Boat looks great. Congrats!

I may be wrong but the step looks like its there, its just folded up. From what I remember it should just fold out of the backrest, kind of like an armrest would.

I wish I could get my pics to upload so I could show off my new purchase.

CF is exactly right, the center of the rear seat just folds down and that is where the cup holder/step is at

I hope you're right but there are no hinges along the bottom when I pull the seat cushion out. I'll take more pics of it tomorrow...

It is hinged on pins, not on a piano style hinge...believe me it is there.

we got caught up in the same thing. It problaly is not there. Apparently they decided to change it from standard feature to a optional feature right around the first of the year. They have a retrofit kit for a fee. we were not pleased, but they would not make good on it. when we ordered it was standard, when delivered it was optional...go figure.

Well I'll be damned. It's there as an option now on the build-a-boat. Definitely was not there in November when we built the boat.

Shawn, I got my X-25 a couple of weeks ago. Because of weather and work, I wasn't able to take it out till yesterday with my dealer for the maiden voyage.

My dealer said he put different/bigger bags in for the PnP than the normal ones. My front bag is a V-shaped bag that wraps around the bow underneath the seats. I can take a pic if you like.

It's a very sweet boat. I can't wait for the first board/surf session, hopefully this weekend. Temps are still pretty cold here in the morning (upper 30's / low 40's).

Gorgeous! I love the colors... which is why I chose Navy and Gunmetal flake for my boat. I wish my lake (and wallet) had been big enough to go for the 25, but I love my X2.

Enjoy.

Thanks again for posting up those pics of your boat. It was the inspiration for this one!

Shawn, I'll take some pics this weekend and post them. You might also talk to my dealer, Darren Lamont of MasterCraft Northwest -- darren@northwestws.com -- to get the details of the PnP bags he put in my X-25.

The X-25 has been a big hit for him. He mentioned he's sold 5 X-25's already and only 1 allocation left for the year.

No problem... I had forgotten about that.

Like I said before, you have to see the gunmetal in person to truly appreciate it and then it looks even better on the water in the sun.

So jealous. I love the 2011 vinyl too.

The X2 bow sac might work well under there:

Shawn-
I ran into the same thing for my rear seat cupholder..... If it had been optional when I ordered it, rather than a standard feature, you better believe I would have chosen that option..... I was pretty unhappy to see that my boat didnt have it. Like you, it was a feature that I was really looking foreward to.

Check with your dealer to see if he can get it taken care of for you. My dealer (Castaway Marina) got it taken care of for me somehow. I am not sure if they got MC to cover it, or if they just purchased the kit themselves, and fixed me up.....

Awesome looking boat BTW. I love the color combo!!

We are on a small lake in North Attleboro. It's not big but it's home.

If they did in fact change it to an option im sorry for misinforming you, when I returned to school for the semester in January there had been no mention of that no longer being a standard item. That seriously sucks that the dealers were not made aware of the change to alert customers

Yes it does..suck that is. It is a great feature for the 25. Total failure to comunicate.

Now I will say the dealer was willing to eat the cost, and order the kit but that is not the right solution. It was not a dealer error.

but man i cant help laughing that the selling points are "flip down cup holders" and "luxurious arm rests"...

hows the wake behind this thing?

 Where have you been??:D

General opinion on the wake is as follows- Wakeboard and surf wakes are spectacular, ski wake.....not so much.

so whats the difference between this and an x2 and an xstar? It seems to be about the same size as an x2.

ddanenberger

the two boats very different from interior layout, weight, and over 2 feet in length.

Several pros have indicated that the X25 throws the largest and best shaped wake of all the MCs when loaded with only stock ballast. I spoke with a few folks who have ridden x-stars and the X25 and they indicated that the X25 with about 1500lbs of ballast has a wake the same size, but slightly steeper and narrower, than a modern X-star with 3500lbs of ballast. But I have no first hand knowledge. Other on here do and will certainly chime in.

The x-25 is a larger, deeper V boat than an X-2 and therefore would be expected to have a poor slalom wake compared to an X-2 and down right awful slalom wake compared to the DD models.

I still prefer the x-star wake to an x-25, the 25's wake is just a little too steep for my liking. The thing that sets the x-star apart is that even if you have 6,000# in the boat the wake is still nice and clean, which cant be said for any other wake boat on the market.

You shouldn't be in design, you should be in sales.

yea, all the pro's i know still choose the xstar... but only cause thats the boat they have to ride behind in contests. My friends will share boats depending on what they are being pulled behind in contests.

Echoing everything above, I have two kids who both like to ride but are not (yet) interested in a huge wake. I like a big wake but I'm not a pro-level rider by any stretch.

Our requirements which led us to the X25 were:

* lots of room -- 8-12 people have to fit comfortably
* 22' or less -- we live on a small lake so the 23-25 footers are overkill. In fact, the x25 is really stretching the upper limit on size.
* good sized wake with only integrated/hidden ballast. We absolutely did not want fat sacs on the floor or seats.
* clean wake at 16-18mph for the kids -- wakeplate and empty ballast achieves this.
* surfable with integrated/hidden ballast

After test driving the XStar, X15, X2, X25 and coming from an X1, the X25 fit the bill the best for us. The x15 was very close but the wake was more like the XStar -- not as vertical.

Everything you mentioned is what will drive me to either an X15 or an X25. Someday. When the slalom dream dies. Are you on Long lake? Not a lot of lakes around here that are large enough for a 25. If I do go to either of those it will have the SS package. Great looking boat btw.

Falls Pond. It's only about 100 acres but it's more than enough for us.

ShawnB
04-22-2011, 10:48 PM
Also, the cup holder/step is being taken care of. I think the dealer was more annoyed than we were over it. And there's more than enough room to fit bags under the front seat rather than in the walkway.

So now instead of 98.5% satisfied I'm back to 100%

Wow, 100 acres... my lake is about 200 and I feel I'd be getting big if I went past the X2. Is it a deep lake to benefit from that deep V and really get a good wake? Mine is pretty shallow, especially in certain areas.

ShawnB

Very deep. 30+ feet through most of it.
