I have pulled off my drum brakes and replaced shoes and one wheel cylinder on passenger side. The wheel cylinder had been leaking for lord knows how long and had destroyed the shoes and locked up my shoe adjuster. I called mastercraft and they said they couldn't get me the adjuster and said go to a parts store. Does anyone know what I should ask for when I go to the parts store? I went to a trailer sales and service place in town and they had a selection there but all were to big for my application. The one I have looks similiar to the drums on a gm pickup truck. Could I get away with using those?

When I looked into mine, it was just a royal pain getting all the marine-specific parts (brake shoes, single-action cylinders, etc), and it turned out that the cost of getting a brand-new backing plate (http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/DIC-1878700/10%22+Trailer+Drum+Brake+Backing+Plate.html) with cylinder, brake shoes, springs, adjuster, and everything else is so cheap that buying individual parts to rebuild your old one just isn't worthwhile.

I ended up getting the free-backing (http://www.wholesalemarine.com/pc/DIC-4071500/37000301/Drum+Trailer+Brakes/10%22+Freebacking+Trailer+Brake+Backing+Plate.html ) version so I could back the trailer over the curb in front of my house without crawiling out of the truck and putting the pin into the coupler.

Anyway, I see that you've already started down the parts-buying path. I wish you well.

thanks for the advice and i will definitely do that to the other side when it comes time. I actually got an adjuster off a 1994 chevrolet 1500 and it works just as good same width but smaller teeth with a thicker plate. The fact that these aren't self adjusting is probably the only reason I got away with this.
