So i picked up this 1975 S&S for 1000.00 last week. She needs some love...to say the least.

Started to strip the interior, and pulled the motor. Going to begin restoring the floor this month.

I'll let the pictures tell a better story...

Where can i find the orig trailer parts? I'm pretty sure a 2x8 isnt factory...

Looking for the trailer fender flares too...any suggestions?

Is this fiberglass wall under the dash structural? I'm thinking about cutting it to allow for more storage....and ideas?

Welcome to Team Talk, looks like a fun project and you are definitely off to a strong start with all the clean up that you have already done. I am sure by the end of the day most of your questions will be answered. Keep the pictures coming as you progress through your work it keeps everyone on here motivated to keep working on their boats.

My 1977 MC trailer had the 2X8 board on the front of the trailer but it was covered with carpet without the rubber bumper . The rubber bumper would help center the boat on the trailer but would set it back on the trailer a couple of inches .

Welcome to Team Talk. You have a great project boat and I'm sure this will attract quite a following. I don't think that the the piece in question is structural, however there will be a large amount of flotation material behind it so creating more (any) storage space like in the newer boats would require removing the flotation material. You will also find that finding any original parts is really a matter of luck. There are some parts boats that pop up from time to time, and there are parts laying around, it's locating them that is so impossible.

Hey Seal... welcome to the S&S family!!! I have an '83... the bow storage is open on that model, but I have kids and needed more. What I came up with is removing the rear bench and building a sundeck / storage locker. I am almost done wit it... have a look, it should add TONS on much needed storage. One thing these older boats lack, is somewhere to put your stuff. The wrinkled seat cushion is being fixed... it was our first one! :)

I agree with chawk610, I ended up doing the same with my S&S. The sundeck gives the wife a place to lay when we are relaxing in the cove and it provides a pretty good amount of storage for misc things. I have even managed to use the storage locker for my surf ballast!

I found the flag stickers to replace yours for my 77 S&S on ebay. Search for Correct Craft Flag and they will come up. They were about $30. Update us with some pics. Mine turned out Awesome!!! Check the before and after pics.

@Chawk610 - Since seeing someone else building storage you've got me thinking of doing the same in my '84. Q. that's a NICE seat you built there - drink holders even. I'm wondering if you ever get hassled about the height of the seat. At least in IL you can't sit on the gunnels/sides or engine box - they let you have Pass. ride on your sundeck?

yea.. .I sit back there all the time... no issues... BUT, were we go there are a lot of genuine idiots... so I think they see me in my "older" boat chugging along at 15mph and don't hassle me!

So the removal of the bottom paint was a nightmare, and then finding previous hull damage hidden by the bottom paint was not something I really wanted to see. But oh well, I have since sand blasted the trailer and repainted it white along with running all new lights and side markers. The boat hull has been repaired and painted. Going to be prepping the boat this coming weekend to put back the stripe but this time in red. I'll try to keep the updates more current this time around ;)
