I am looking for Trim Tabs for a 2001 209V. Has anyone installed trim tabs? Do you know what size will fit?

I just completed the trim tab install on my 2002 X-30. I used the MasterCraft (Lenco) 2011 tab and installed the guage and control box. The hardest part was finding all the correct parts to keep it as stock as possible. Here is a link to my thread.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a 209V. Was there an X-9v also?

It's got to be a 205V but I thought the 209 did away with the 205 in the year 2000.

No such thing as a 209v...

The question I have is why? a 209 or 205v are very small boats and really shouldn't need a trim tab. If your having planning issues it's probably your prop

209 is not that small of a boat-especially compared to other direct drives.

They also have a tendency to porpoise at speed. When 'footing I have to either have people up front or some weight in the KGB ballast to keep ours from porpoising, so I would also be interested in a trim tab.

I have considered putting a trim tab on my X1. The reason is that they flatten out the ski wake somewhat on every boat they are installed on and I'd like to have the wake a little smaller for people learning to ski. I went through it with the guys at at the dealership and we came to the conclusion that we could do it for about 1800-2000 dollars but I would get much more out of a ballast bag up front. Still haven't ruled it out. If I had any porpoising I would get it in a heartbeat.

Porpoising was my main reason for installing mine. My boat is especially back end heavy with the L-18 engine. I think I spend $1,000 in parts which included the guage and control box to run the guage.

Do you have an install thread or any pictures?

The install thread is referenced in response #2 above in this same thread. Here it is again. It has pictures and a very complete parts list.

My fault. I am getting way too old. I bought the boat at the end of last summer. Until you said something, I hadn't noticed my error. My boat is a 209, just not the V. Just the Prostar 209, not the V, I am embarrassed to say.

Sure, it was called a 210 right? ;) Other than tracking fins, I have a hard time seeing the difference between the running surface of each when they're parked next to each other.

I've always been curious about a 209 with a plate and it's come up here a half dozen times. Anyone know if any of the previous tinkerers ever completed the mod?

At our dealership, we have put more hook on a couple 209's and it is a noticeable difference in the ski wake. This is the same idea of the plate, but it is cheaper and not adjustable.

Roughly how much does adding hook cost?

I believe the cost is around $1200 as it is about 7-8 hours of labor, plus removing the boat from the trailer and $200 in supplies.
