I am very happy to say that my 11 year old son made his first deep water start on a slalom ski this morning. He has been dropping a ski since last fall, but this still was a big occasion for him. :friday:

Deep water start, heck that's a big occasion for everyone the first time. That's great! Both feet in the boots?

Going through this very thing with my 11 year old. Hard to break from the skate and the wake board. Not much interest in ancient ways I guess. Way to go by the way and get the pics! :friday:

AWSOME! - great to hear. Keep him interested. Get in in the course very early to keep his interest (that's what would have kept mine way way way back). Even if you are driving between the drive bouys & the turn bouys on one side. That way he's skiing a "1/2 course".

You know what they say.... Kids that hunt, fish, and ski don't grow up and mug old ladies! My son is going to be a senior in highschool this year and since he was 5, dirt bikes, (a texas winter sport), and watersports keeps the whole family doing things together.... Have fun with it!

"Kids that hunt, fish, and ski don't grow up and mug old ladies":uglyhamme ...

That is truly the first time that I heard that. But I will certainly keep in mind.

As a matter of fact, I actually cant stop laughing about it..

Makes sense though

I have video footage of the "first time", but no stills. We are going back out tomorrow AM, and I will bring the camera. Been an awesome week for us as I ran the course last night for the first time. :toast: Only at 28mph, but I am still excited. The dreaded 6 ball has been just out of reach all summer, but I got into such a rythym last night that I actually missed the exit gate because I was headed for the non existant 7 ball. If I can figure out how to add a photo, I will post one tomorrow of my son.

Monday when my son started, he used the deep V rope. Today he did it twice with a standard rope. Took a couple of tries, but a few of those were driver error :( trying to figure out how much pull he needed. I am not sure if the attached picture was the successful start, but he is still happy. I am also attaching a picture of him skiing once he was up. Woo Hoo.
