Anyone here can help me with this, or direct me to some help?
Here is the issue. We have a 6 Channel JL Audio amplifier Powering the 2 sets of speakers in the boat, the 2 sets on the tower, and the subwoofer, in our 05 X2. Well, it would flat out rock for about an hour, and then the amp would start going into protect mode, and it sounds like the CD is skipping, but it is the amp clipping, and going into protect mode, and shutting down. So I ordered another 4 channel amp for the tower speakers, to relieve the 6 channel amp. Well it is still doing the same crap.

So in total we have 6 7.7" woofers, 6 tweeters, and a 10" sub.
1, 6 Channel JL audio amp, and a New 4 Channel Clarion amp.

Do I need a capacitor or something to store voltage, to prevent this from happening? Man I need some help, because this is about to drive me nucking futs

Thanks for any help whatsoever!!!

No cap needed
How hot is it in the amp area.

Sounds like a power issue....do you have 4 gauge wire running to the amp? You might also want to put a 12 volt fan in the area that the amps are mounted for air flow. A gerbil cage fan would work well.

ya gota get some air to those guys. The amps are clipping yes, but what your hearing is the protection curcuit turning on and off, works like the speed limiter on your car.

I guess it gets pretty hot in that storage space, but How am I suppose to get airflow in there without pulling up seat cushions? So a 12 volt fan in there could solve all my problems?

Unless its swap crotch hot! Possibly?

Check in the area for about 3" of clearance to the larger storage area and then run some blower/vent hose to that area and then attach a 12volt fan to the end of the hose. In fact a blower fan with the intake end attached to the hose; wired to your other blowers might do the trick.

Swap crotch huh...LOL!

I have them in the big storage area right under the glove box. We usually put an ice chest in there also. Along with back packs. Maybe we will have to not fill that area up.
And get some more ventillation in there?

I had the same problem with mine. The dealer had a stereo installer come out and they put a heat gun on it and found that the speaker wire heading from the amp to the tower was defective. It was overheating the whole system and shutting it down. They replaced the wire and I haven't had a problem since. When we are anchored in a cove I just lift up the front seat and the spotter seat so air can flow through the compartment. I haven't had any problems while we run down the lake.

I am positive this is an amp problem because I can see the light on both amps clip when it happens. On the JL amp the protect led lights up, and on the Clarion it blinks.

Can anyone help me out with the labeling of the RCA outputs on the back of the XMD3? There are 3 sets on the back of mine (white, Red, and Black) What I am wanting to know, is which one is the Sub output, which one would be front, and which one would be rear?

Cheecher...one set is the fronts, another is the sub, and the third is aux. inputs. The sub output is basically the rear output...

Fade your stereo all the way to the front and plus your rca's into one of the rca's from the stereo. If you get sound - they are your fronts. If nothing...try another set of rcas from the headunit.

Fade stereo to the rear and repeat. The set leftover will be your aux in.

Ok, so the third set will actually be an input?
Cuz I do have one set that I was trying to use, and it was puttting out nothing.
So tell me this:
I have the Front set RCA outputs for the channels on the amp that are running the tower speakers.

And the rear set for the channel running the boat speakers.

Should I just do A Y split on the rear RCA jacks to send signal to the channel running the sub?
