Hi guys,
have tried to wire my Mastercraft 004 trailer to the 7 pin plug today with no joy.

I have 2 blue cables,
green, green with brown
yellow and yellow with brown

The brake system has been disconnected

Does anyone know what these cables stand for and if i am missing some earthing or something?

the trailer is like brand new so no problems here and i suspect wires are original.

Please help folks

The blue wires are to disengage the brakes for backing up. So they need to connect to the brake light wire on your tow vehicle.

And this is a standard 7 pin wire set up on the tow vehical.

This site tells you what the 5 pin flat wires on the trailer are and gives some of the more common wire colors on cars.

At the moment I dont have electric brakes so really frustrated as it does not work with this diagram. What does orange one do? From the brown with yellow one it seems to be connected to the trailer to one of the marker lights - wold that mean i have positive trailer? or is earth? all very confusing :((
maybe the trailer has been rewired at some stage

The trailer chassis will be earth (-). I suspect that your trailer has a split loom and half of the wires run down each side of the trailer. Green, green w/brown and one of the blue wires should run down the right (starboard) side of your trailer. The green wire is for your right turn lights, the green with brown is for your right marker/running lights, the blue wire was for right side electric brakes. The yellow, yellow w/brown and the other blue wire should run down the left (port) side of your trailer. The yellow wire is for your left turn lights, the yellow with brown is for your left marker/running lights and the blue wire was for your left side electric brakes.

You will need to add a short length of white wire from the ground location on your plug/vehicle socket to a screw near the coupler on your trailer. This will serve as a reliable ground. Your coupler will also serve as a ground, but will be less reliable. If you have hydraulic brakes with a reverse lockout solenoid (for turning off the brakes while backing the trailer) you will run a purple wire from this solenoid to the backup light location on your plug/vehicle socket.

As you have probably found, there are several plugs with different configurations. You will need to determine what you have. My vehicles are wired like the one labeled large 7 pin round plug & socket in the following link. I am not in Australia, so I have no idea what your vehicle is like.
