View Full Version : Right of Passage, First bent propeller

Well I finally earned the bent propeller stripe. Yesterday we were out on the water, temp 90deg, and hit a submerged log. I think I lucked out, it didn't scuttle the running gear only the prop I think.
1. What should I check before I drop the hammer again.

Ps. We idled back home, nothing fell out of the bottom, no other vibrations except significantly above idle, and no funky vibrations in reverse.

Pop a cold one and realize that throwing a fit does not fix the prop! Welcome to the club! Hope everything else is ok!

I feel your pain...hit a rock yesterday...about 3 feet of water...idleing along....thought that I was looking....ladder was left down...hit first...then rocked on the 1st fin...then the prop....BAD wobble above idle....took SeaDoo forty miles down river to get trailer...drove back to ramp and took out boat....prop screwed...fin really screwed...ladder won't retract....drive shaft and hull untouched...

Ordered new prop and fin and ladder from Mike in Charlotte this am...thanks Mike :friday:

Any advice about remembering ladder???

Please don't laugh at pictures.....

smsunman, welcome to the club. Be thankful it wasn't worse and do as tex suggests.

I was very calm, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later.

If you don't break something every once in a while you're not playing hard enough! :)

If all you did was bend your prop, you should be good to go for a bit over $100. I seriously mangled my father-in-law's 4 blade OJ last year. They refurbed it and it runs more smoothly than it did before the accident.
