Power Valve selection (4160 Holley carb)

Need a little help. I am going to replace the power valve in my 4160 Holley carb, but I do not know the correct size to use. I have a 1990 Maristar 210 with a 351 (not the HO version). I thought that the first time I replaced the power valve that is was a 6.5” from Skidim, but the one on the website now appears to be a 2.5”.

Does anyone know what the correct one should be or what differences in performance I might get from using different size power valves? Thanks for any help.

that seems to be the only choice. I would call Vince at Skidim and ask him. He would be able to tell you in a second.

Why don't you just take it out and look at the numbers stamped on the valve itself? That will tell you what you want to know.

I’m going to go with the 6.5” valve. I found quite a bit of information on correctcraftfan.com regarding power valves. It appears that the 2.5” valve is from an older kit and will limit the hole shot performance. Here’s a link for some good discussions.
