My honest advice, don't put a tower on that boat. I have one on my '91 and hate it. You will have spiderweb gel coat in no time. The weight of the tower will flex the hull both on the water and on the road and pretty much trash your gel coat. Go with pole or something along those lines. I don't like the look of the tower on a closed bow boat either, but that's besides the point.

I had an 89 Prostar 190 and Samson put the Edge tower on it for me. They reinforced all the mounts with backing plates (that were glued in as well but I don't know what they used for that) and I didn't get any spider cracks or other gelcoat issues around the tower mounts during the 6 years I used it. We towed tons of people, my brother is over 200LBS and I towed him from the tower all the time and no issues with the gelcoat. I did have spider cracks from previous owners of the boat around the grab rails and stuff. I think that if you reinforce the mounting points properly you won't have any problems. I live in WA so it was easy to have them do the install -- totally worth it if you can swing it, they did a great job.
As for the tower itself, I loved it. Looked great, was very sturdy. The only problem I had was that when folded down it would rest on the padded side upholstery. I put bright orange life vests there each time but if you didn't it might mess up the upholstery.

Sorry I don't have a better picture online but you get the idea.

x2. All other towers do not look right.
Taylor's mini tower looks the best of any after market tower on an older ProStar...
