Hello, I am new to the forum and new to the Mastercraft scene, picked up an '05 X2 last summer and have been working to get the little details ironed out since then.
Has anyone had any issues with the engine covers on any of the Mastercrafts sagging due to no (left to right) support up near the ski pylon, more specifically an '05 X2? Mine seems to have a slight downward bow to it from people walking, sitting, etc across it. I asked my dealer if maybe there was suppoesed to be a crossmember there but they said not from the factory. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this..

I know a friend that re-supported his engine cover, but i have the same boat (05 X2) with 850 hours and no sagging...

Might be time to pull that guy apart and rebuild it

As far as I can tell the base material is the plastic board material and should not require re-building except for the fact that it may have taken a permanent set. I plan to build a support for it and mount it to the back of the ski pylon structure with a bit of seadek on the top surface so that it doesn't damage the underside of the cover.

Can you open the hatch and take a picture? Something doesn't sound right.....

I just rebuilt mine becuase it was bowing. I replaced the backing plate with 3/4" polypropylene and upgraded the gas struts to #60.. You can see the results in pics 3 and 4 in this album...wasnt to hard if you use the old one as a template....

My engine hatch sags also.....everyone tends to walk right in the middle and over the years it has developed a bow to it. Guess I'll have to repair it in the future.

So are your guys all the starboard/black plastic backed? I ask because my 2000 has aluminum in my 1 piece not the starboard. Just curious for info. I just can't see how they would think that stiff would hold up w the heat.
