Anyone seen the new PP paddle? Understand there is a new version out with paddles that sticks ~2 inches below the boat. More responsive and doesn't lose contact with water as easily.

This is from our boating friends on the dark side.

I just ordered a new system and it is suppose to be at the dealer Tuesday. I will ask about it when I talk to them. I can't wait to try it out once the get it put on.

my PP packed up this weekend....would not keep constanty speed atall...had to disconnect it as the servo motor was getting way hot...the wife found it hard at first to drive without it,but got used to it in the end......
my dealer is sending me a new one in the post and i'm going to replace it this weekend......
1. how difficult is it to replace???
i will check the paddle wheel as well as i was getting strange readings from the speedo..(lake is full of weed at the mom.)
2. apparantly i can clean the paddle wheel from inside the boat....(dont worry ,it will be on the lift)....

3. anything else i should look out for....

small thread jack, but i couldnt be bovved to start a new one

You can clean the wheel from inside the boat and no need to be on a lift. You should have got a plug to replace the sensor.

Simply unscrew the ring, pull the sensor out (don't worry there is a valve which will stop 90% of the water coming in) and put the plug in.

You should only end up with a small puddle in the bottom if you do it right.

The only problem I see is that it appears that the wire from the paddle is permanently attached to it, meaning that if you have (or want) to replace with the new paddle, you've got to re-run the wire under the deck and up to the harness behind the driver's kick panel. Hope I'm wrong about that...

Otherwise, the biggest problem with replacing Perfect Pass that I see is reaching in and getting the gauge unit out of the dash if that turns out to be the problem. It's tight quarters in there, and that job has been known to start fist fights in boat service departments. If it difficult on Sizzler's boat, I'd look at replacing the module, and the servo first and see if that cures the problem.

The "new" paddle wheel is not new. It was and is used for certain model boats that due to their hull configuration need the sensor moved down into a clean water stream.
