In the heat exchanger.

Anyone know the average life expectancy?

I dont think there is an anode inside the heat exchanger. I have a 2001 and there is nothing like an anode inside of it.
I do have anodes on the rudder and shaft but that is all.

I would check it now and then, the heat exchanger is not cheap so protecting it is worthwile.

I'd love to see a pic of this if anyone has one.

Almost on top of my heat exchanger(freshwater cooling system) there is 3/8" NPT plug looking thing, but inside the plug there's a anode. Like this one: http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R168008

Thanks for the link. Very interesting, I clearly don't have one of these. Although I am thinking about it, even though I do flush with fresh water after every outing in the boat. Incedentially, I do inspect the interior of the Heat Exchanger before every season and all looks well so far. I did just check this last weekend during the spring overhaul. 900 hours on a 2001 model.
