Anyone have a good place to get a set?

The local dealers want north of $400 for a set.

Skidim can get them for less than the local guys but still a bit expensive.

Anyone have a good supplier?

Thanks!

have you tried autozone or skidim?

The question is, do you want to or are you able to put your own right angle boot ends on the plug wires? If so, you can go to most race/speed shops and get 8mm Taylor wires and the right angle boots and cut to fit. If not, then I would suggest going the skidim route and paying the $40--$50 bucks that it's going to cost to have an out of the box fit solution. When I hunted for wires locally, the local auto shops always had the correct sized/fit wire set, but the right angle boots were not so easy to find.

Being a Ford guy I wouldn't know, but can't these be had at Summit Racing or Jeggs?

I think you can if you know what to look for. For instance, I know there are a lot of compatible parts for my PCM GT-40 if I search for a mid 90s Ford Lightning with a 5.8L. That gave me this plug wire set (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACC-5056B/?rtype=10). It's got right angles on one end, 45s on the other, and I have no idea if the lengths are right. All for about $5 more than I could get them from White Lake Marine or Skidim. :o To be fair, they did have another set of 9mm wires for $44.

Sometimes, for us uneducated, its just easier to let one of the inboard parts stores do the homework.

I have seen this question asked before I am sure, but don't remember anyone ever posting up part numbers and a source for replacement plug wires. The Packard Electrical plug wires came OEM on my LT1 and I believe have been used by GM for road vehicles also. The marine version is a unique set of plug wires I think because the ignition system borrows parts from both the LT1 and Northstar V8 engines...Seems more than a few parts were borrowed from the Cadillac line to put this marine engine package together. I sourced out the inlet fuel pump filter a few years back and it originally was used as a power steering pump filter! Strange huh?

Making a custom set is easy enough to do with the right tools and know how but by the time you purchase everything and fab them up... Awe Heck! I would give Chuck a call at Bay Area Watersports. He knows his stuff and might even be competitive on the price too. (877) 817-7774

On a side note: I have been wondering if the time has come to start developing some sticky threads to address some of these more commonly asked questions regarding the LT1? Sure would be easier to find the info when needed I think ;)

Thanks for all the input guys.

The trouble with the autoparts places (Autozone, Jegs, etc.) is I have no idea what I am looking for. This engine has such an odd collection of parts who knows where the plug wires are actually from. It might be from a 94 LT1 auto engine, maybe a Caddy, maybe an F16 ;).

If anyone has some part numbers I would be very interested in that.

It sounds like the Skidim route is a pretty good one. I will give BAWS a ring before I pull to trigger.

JLeuck, I am sure I have seen this come up before too. A search of the forum yielded nothing useful. It would sure be nice to have some of the commonly asked questions threads stickied.

A resurrection of TMC Google would be nice too...
